Richardson–Lucy Deconvolution with a Spatially Variant Point-spread Function of Chandra: Supernova Remnant Cassiopeia A as an Example

چکیده

Richardson-Lucy (RL) deconvolution is one of the classical methods widely used in X-ray astronomy and other areas. Amid recent progress image processing, RL still leaves much room for improvement under a realistic situations. One direction to include positional dependence point-spread function (PSF), so-called with spatially variant PSF (RL$_{\rm{sv}}$). Another method estimating reliable number iterations their associated uncertainties. We developed practical that incorporates RL$_{\rm{sv}}$ algorithm estimation As typical example bright high-resolution images, Chandra supernova remnant Cassiopeia~A was this paper. enables us uncover smeared features forward/backward shocks jet-like structures. constructed predict appropriate by using statistical fluctuation observed images. Furthermore, uncertainties were estimated error propagation from last iteration, which phenomenologically tested data. Thus, our practically efficient framework evaluate time evolution remnants fine structures embedded

A Dedicated Chandra Acis Observation of the Central Compact Object in the Cassiopeia a Supernova Remnant

We present results of a recent Chandra X-ray Observatory observation of the central compact object (CCO) in the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A. This observation was obtained in an instrumental configuration that combines a high spatial resolution with a minimum spectral distortion, and it allowed us to search for pulsations with periods longer than ≈ 0.68 s. We found no evidence of extended emi...

The X-ray Expansion of the Supernova Remnant Cassiopeia A

We present the first X-ray expansion measurement of the SNR Cas A. We compared new ROSAT to archived Einstein HRI images with a separation of 17 years. The remnant is seen to be expanding, on average, at a rate of 0.20± 0.01 % yr−1, which is twice as fast as the expansion of the bright radio ring and two-thirds as fast as the ensemble of optical Fast Moving Knots. This argues that we are observ...

Infrared echoes near the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A.

Two images of Cassiopeia A obtained at 24 micrometers with the Spitzer Space Telescope over a 1-year time interval show moving structures outside the shell of the supernova remnant to a distance of more than 20 arc minutes. Individual features exhibit apparent motions of 10 to 20 arc seconds per year, independently confirmed by near-infrared observations. The observed tangential velocities are ...

Carbon Monoxide in the Cassiopeia a Supernova Remnant

We report the likely detection of near-infrared 2.29 μm first overtone carbon monoxide (CO) emission from the young supernova (SN) remnant Cassiopeia A (Cas A). The continuum-subtracted CO filter map reveals CO knots within the ejecta-rich reverse shock. We compare the first overtone CO emission with that found in the well studied supernova SN 1987A and find ∼30 times less CO in Cas A. The pres...

Phosphorus in the young supernova remnant Cassiopeia A.

Phosphorus ((31)P), which is essential for life, is thought to be synthesized in massive stars and dispersed into interstellar space when these stars explode as supernovae (SNe). Here, we report on near-infrared spectroscopic observations of the young SN remnant Cassiopeia A, which show that the abundance ratio of phosphorus to the major nucleosynthetic product iron ((56)Fe) in SN material is u...
